Drawing of an ancient vase in front of a fresco

£725.00

Coloured pencil on paper, 30.5cm x 22.5cm

This composition is an amalgamation. The fresco combines various decorative elements on a 16th/17th century virginal in the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, while the pattern of the exposed plaster is based on the surface damage to a painted wall on the north side of Smithfield Market. The vase is inspired by an Ancient Greek silver jar in the British Museum and the yellow dahlias were spotted in a garden.

Price includes shipping worldwide (please note that customs fees may apply for items shipped outside the UK)
